Nielsen to Track TiVo Usage

Last week Nielsen Media Research announced they are going to use software from Ucentric Systems to track personal video recorder (PVR) use on TVs audited by their ratings service.
The results should be interesting, or terrifying if you work at a major network.
Heck, CBS chief Mel Karmazin told the Credit Suisse First Boston conference on
12/10 that he would make CBS a pay channel if TiVo became so popular that too many consumers were zapping commercials.
Considering his audience (investment bankers) I am surprised CBS’s stock didn’t drop about 50 percent. Pay for Big Brother, Touched by an Angel, and Becker?
