Robert K. Merton (1910-2003) has died. Not only did he invent the focus group he also coined the terms self-fulfilling prophecy and deviant behavior. Often referred to as Mr. Sociology, he was named as one of the 20 most influential sociologist of the 20th century by the New York Times.
