Lenovo bids Says Goodbye To IBM Brand

November 7th, 2007  |  Published in Branding, Technology

Until the MacBook Pro came out I’ve always felt if price was not a consideration the IBM ThinkPad was the best laptop on the market. So I was pretty surprised when IBM sold the brand to China-based Lenovo for $1.75 billion in 2005. Well it seems to have worked pretty well for Lenovo. In the most recent quarter they tripled earnings to $105.26 million. And two years ahead of their announced schedule they are removing the IBM logo from all their ThinkPad line of computers. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
