March 23rd, 2006  |  by Tommy  |  published in Design

I’ve got nothing against tuaw.com, they are a wonderful resource for Mac users. But I am sick and tried of these type of logo treatments. Come on people, try to come up with something a little more original.

Microsoft Adoptes Firefox RSS Icon for IE7

December 15th, 2005  |  by Tommy  |  published in Design

This is both interesting and lazy on Microsoft’s part. According to a post at the Microsoft RSS blog they asked John Lilly and Chris Beard from Mozilla if they could use the Firefox icon in IE7. I wonder what Bill Gates thinks about this, since Firefox is taking away Internet Explorer marketshare every day.

New AT&T Logo

November 23rd, 2005  |  by Tommy  |  published in Branding, Design

The new AT&T logo I mentioned in a previous post has been unveiled. I’d like to comment in more detail, like explaining how much the new logo sucks, but I need to run to a meeting with my firm’s new advertising agency. Plus I’ve got a lot of shopping, cleaning, and cooking to do in [...]

Great Design: 360 Electrical

October 25th, 2005  |  by Tommy  |  published in Design

This design from 360 Electrical is amazing. At many levels it is so darn simple it is hard to explain why nobody thought if it before. Heck I had a need for this type of item just a few days ago. I bet they are going to sell millions of these.

Branding as Art

October 9th, 2005  |  by Tommy  |  published in Culture, Design

Artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset recently unveiled their newest sculpture, entitled Prada Marfa. The work is located on the outskirts of Valentine, Texas (pop. 120) near Marfa on desolate land with no other visible trace of civilization. It looks to be a luxury boutique with a display of Fall 2005 Prada shoes and bags. [...]

August 23rd, 2005  |  by Tommy  |  published in Blogs, Design

Jeffrey Zeldman’s venerable online design magazine A List Apart has relaunched with a new design, interface, servers, CMS, you name it. It is simply stunning. Jason Santa Maria was the designer and Eric Meyer did the coding. And as always the content is stellar. Of special interest for me was an article by Jim Coudal [...]
