Interesting writeup about the market share of WordPress:

According to WordPress Stats, in September there were 27.7 million websites running on WordPress.com or using WordPress.org. The September 2010 Netcraft survey cites 227,225,642 hosted websites. So that means that WordPress makes up a little over 12% of all websites.

As the post notes in detail it is really hard to tell the “true” market share WordPress currently holds, but it is someplace between 7.4 and 10 percent of the top million sites, which is pretty darn impressive when you think about it.

The service, called Blackbird Pie, lets you create an embeddable tweet by first entering the URL for the chosen message in the form that Twitter has created (that URL can be found using the timestamp on a tweet – i.e.—where it says “3 hours ago”).

From there, click the “Bake It” button, and Blackbird will generate the code needed to embed the tweet on your site. It should be interested to see how this service will be used. I am betting initally it will be used mainly by media and/or news sites, but expect it will quickly expand well beyond that as people find new and innovative uses.

Yesterday Google announced they’re opening a new third party Application Gallery for Google Analytics.

The gallery already has more than 30 applications. Applications are organized into 12 categories, including business intelligence, campaign management, content, data collection, e-commerce, email marketing, mobile marketing, phone tracking, reporting tools, SEO, site auditing, and widgets and gadgets.

A few that seemed very promising included Analytics Visualizations,  Analyticator for WordPress, and WordStream Keyword Management for SEO. Plus, coming soon, is a brand new set of Google Analytics reports for AdWords (video included above). You’ve got no excuse not to know anything and everything that is happening with your site.
