Ram Trucks “Farmer” Super Bowl Ad

So God made a farmer.

I have been meaning to post this for awhile, since it ran during the Super Bowl, and that was more than a few days ago. Now I am that “preppy” guy. Not a farmer. But I old enough I listened to Paul Harvey. I grew up and now have moved back to a rural area. I could throw a baseball from where I am typing this and hit an 500 acre corn field. My high school had Future Farmers of American and 4H. Heck once a year I head to my parents house across the state and go to “Corn Day.” What is “Corn Day?” Well you go out to the huge 4H center, pay $5.50 and get a chicken breast, as much tea as you can drink, and folks walk around with buckets of corn. Buckets. You eat corn till you can’t stand. As a guy that used to wear Brooks Brother suits and eat sushi, it is a better experience.

I rarely say things like the “best ever” but well …. this is maybe the best commercial I’ve seen in I don’t know how long. Maybe all time. I mean it is wonderful, flat out powerful just with the sound. Add in the Ken Burns like video and you got something pretty special.

VW Super Bowl Teaser Ad

The German carmaker has just released a 60-second teaser for its 2012 Super Bowl ad that features a chorus of dogs barking out “The Imperial March” from Star Wars. VW used that song as the backdrop to its beloved ad from Super Bowl 2011 that featured a young boy in a Darth Vader helmet attempting to use The Force to influence household objects. He succeeds in starting up his dad’s 2012 Passat with a little help. The teaser, called “The Bark Side,” shows that the brand hasn’t abandoned its Star Wars motif. However, neither VW nor its ad agency, Deutsch, is offering any further clues about its ad in the big game on Feb. 4.

Wow. Notice the not-so-subtle reference to that historic 1984 spot by Apple and of course all the “drones” are wearing the trademark white Apple earbuds.
